FULL EAST/WEST CLOSURE

Starting Friday, Oct. 11, at 10 p.m., the full east/west closure of 13400 South at Bangerter Highway will begin. Drivers should expect weekend lane closures and traffic delays for the upcoming new traffic configuration, which will be in place on Monday, Oct. 14. It is anticipated that this full east/west closure will last until fall 2025* During this time, eastbound and westbound traffic on 13400 South will not be able to travel through the intersection at Bangerter Highway and will instead have right-on and right-off access.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Southbound continuous flow intersection (CFI) turn lane is permanently closed for eastbound traffic on 13400 South.

  • Northbound CFI turn lane is open for westbound traffic on 13400 South.

  • All lights at the intersection will be removed, except for the northbound CFI turn lane light.

All travelers needing to get through the intersection should use the detour route via 12600 South, Old Liberty Way, and 3600 West. For more information on the new traffic pattern, please review the map below.

MOUNTAIN VIEW CORRIDOR STORAGE SITE

As part of the Bangerter project, crews will use the empty space on Mountain View Corridor (MVC) between 12600 South and 13400 South as a storage site. Activities at this site could include material hauling and storage, recycled concrete crushing operations, machinery storage and other construction needs as necessary. This storage site will be in place for the duration of the Bangerter project, which is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025.

Bangerter Highway and MVC are coordinating on utilizing the empty spaces along MVC to reduce the expensive and long hauling distances to landfills. This demonstrates UDOT’s commitment to one of its core values, to be fiscally responsible. UDOT sees recycling of concrete, which for this project will be reused on Bangerter Highway, as an innovative transportation solution. Recycling of concrete also contributes to UDOT’s efforts to reduce construction waste in landfills and importing materials from gravel pits.

Nearby residents can expect increased noise, dust, vibration and construction vehicles entering and exiting the site. Due to night noise restrictions, most activities will only be conducted during the day.

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REMOVAL

Crews have permanently removed the pedestrian bridges at 13400 South and 2700 West.
Please enjoy this timelapse showing what went into this work!

Visit the 2700 West website to see the timelapse video for that  intersection.

What to Expect:

  • Increased noise, dust and vibration

  • Overhead lighting for nighttime activities

  • Temporary lane closures

  • Trucks entering and exiting the work zone

  • Traffic shifts throughout the project area

  • Reduced speed limit in the work zone
